OP N.F. T. - 2022
A Vision for a Decentralized Entertainment Industry.
OP NFT was a short venture, explored during the Summer of 2022. Though NFTs are often stigmatized (largely due to coverage of the “Bored Ape” project), many Artists see the technology as revolutionary, offering more transparency and control over how their art is monetized. And for a young creator like myself, I saw a world of infinite opportunity.

FAQ
-
An NFT, or Non-Fungible Token, is a unique digital asset verified using blockchain technology, which ensures authenticity and ownership. Unlike cryptocurrencies, which are identical and can be exchanged on a one-to-one basis, each NFT has a digital signature that makes it one of a kind.s here

Yes, NFTs have gained popularity in the art and collectibles market, with many people seeing them as a new form of investment or appreciating their value as digital art.
Many online communities use them for gaming, user verification, and as a means of monetizing their creative work, just to name a few.
-
While you can screenshot the image of an NFT, it does not give you ownership of the original work. The value of an NFT comes from its verified ownership and authenticity, much like an original painting.

NFTs support all types of media! Creators have made NFT books, movies, event tickets, 3D models, in-game assets, and some companies even use NFTs as share ownership.
The Sly Frye Collection
Like many, I didn’t really get the whole NFT thing, but after GameStop announced they were launching their marketplace(link), I looked into collections such as YaBoyNancy(link) and realized that it was an intriguing new monetization source for creators. There’s a huge focus on decentralization in the community (which I talk about more in my full case study(-link)), and I found that these ideas were very resonant with the greater artist community in our digital age.
Armed with my iPad and the Procreate app, I started drawing NFTs in the typical profile picture style, giving away over 50 of each Sly Frye to begin building the community that would come to be known as Outpost Purple(OP).

My first NFT. The Original Sly Frye was inspired by the artwork of Butch Hartman on "Fairly OddParents," a childhood favorite of mine.
For the second iteration, I wanted to draw a Frye inspired by "Dune" (which I was still obsessed with a year after the film's release).
It's like, The Matrix, y'know?

Sly Frye as The Joker. This NFT featured the first use of a purple beacon, foreshadowing the building of Outpost Purple.

This version of Sly Frye would later come to be known as "Bossling" for his resemblance to Ryan Gosling's character in Blade Runner 2049.

"Sly Frye in the Metaverse of Madness" was my first ever collaboration with another creator, 88Mustang. I drew this Frye wearing an outfit similar to Loki from the Disney+ series, and 88Mustang created a fractal patterned background.

"Woozy Frye" was my first attempt at drawing a Frye with a different expression, and was created for a collaboration with TurntManJimi, a creator who was known for his trippy visuals.

Having received a lot of love from my followers within the first couple of weeks, I made a free NFT as a thank you. "WAGMI" is a common saying in the Web3 communities, and means "We Are Gonna Make It."

Eventually known as "Ranger," this Frye was placed in a wasteland reminiscent of Fallout: New Vegas. The background imagery would go on to become the basis for "Tales from The Outpost," a new collection.

If Sly Frye was Bruce Wayne, then Shy Frye was my Batman. By now, I had become fully immersed in the NFT community and wanted to tell a story based on these works. Shy Frye was the beginning of that story, and would take over as the fictional head-honcho of Outpost Purple.
TALES FROM THE OUTPOST
Tales From The Outpost was a fictionalized and dramatized telling of Outpost Purple’s formation. The idea was to take the themes and vision of the OP team and translate it into a fun, cartoonish, multiversal romp, told through a variety of NFTs, community events, and immersive character progression.
If the project had continued, our goal was to animate these characters and stories, turning it into a full-fledged series via crowdfunding.
